The auction which was titled Friends: The One With The 30th Anniversary Auction, sold a number of famous items from the set, including a jumper worn by the late actor Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing.

This auction featured other costumes worn by the main cast and other guest stars. Other memorabilia under the hammer included furniture and props from Central Perk, the famous coffee place where the gang often gathered on screen.

The biggest selling item was a studio-made production of the Central Perk orange sofa, which fetched for $29,250, close to 15 times the item's original estimate. An item where "the gang spent many famous scenes", Julien's Auctions said.

Perry's polo jumper which also went up for auction was worn by the late actor in Friends episode, The One With The Holiday Armadillo, and sold for $6,500, more than six times the jumper's original estimate.

The jumper was worn by Perry during a scene in Central Perk, where fiancé Monica Geller played by Courteney Cox says that she will not be changing her name to Bing, and again when Lisa Kurdrow's character Phoebe Buffay brings her late mother's Christmas candy dish to their holiday party.

Other items included a white dress shirt worn by Bruce Willis in the episode, The One With The Ring, which sold for $3,250, while a pink ensemble worn by fellow guest star Winona Ryder sold for $2,600. This ensemble was from the Friends episode The One With Rachel's Big Kiss

The auction also made $9,100 for a studio made reproduction of the Geller Cup Trophy prop, from the episode, The One With The Football. The prop sold for more than 30 times its original estimate.

"still falling in love with Friends"

Speaking on this auction, David Goodman, chief executive of Julien's Auctions, has said that the vast sums of money that the items were sold for, further illustrates that people "are still falling in love with Friends".

"Thirty years since its debut in 1994, people from all over the world are still falling in love with Friends as evidenced by the success of today’s 30th anniversary auction", Goodman said.

"Since the announcement of this auction celebration, interest pivoted to an all-time high with thousands of bidders joining Julien’s and Warner Bros", he added. "Television’s nostalgic journey of Friends that culminated with all of the show’s iconic items being sold beyond their pre-sale estimates".
