Irish actress Nicola Coughlan has won best comedy performance at the TV choice awards for her role in Channel 4’s ‘Big Mood’.
The ‘Bridgerton’ star plays Maggie, a 30-year-old writer with bi-polar disorder, as she navigates life and mental health with her best friend Eddie, played by ‘Its a Sin’ actress Lydia West
The series, written by Camilla Whitehall was Channel 4’s most-watched new comedy launch since ‘Derry Girls’, and was highly praised for its depiction of bi-polar disorder.
"Big Mood has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Deeply grateful to everyone who loves our mad, funny, sad show." Coughlan commented when the show was renewed for a second season by Channel 4.
Season Two will see Eddie returning home for a wedding after not speaking with Maggie for over a year. Yet Maggie has competition for Eddie's attention as her best friend is now accompanied by an infuriatingly positive spiritual healer named Whitney.
Also during the award ceremony, Brenda Blethyn was presented with an outstanding contribution award for her 14 series playing the detective Vera Stanhope, in ‘Vera’.
