Last week, Celine Dion performed a live cover of Edith Piaf's 'L'Hymme A L'Amour' at the Eiffel Tower last Friday, her first on stage performance since her Stiff Person Diagnosis in 2022.
The Olympic Committee had to initially dismiss false reports that the singer would be earning $2 million (£1.5 million) to perform one song at this show last Friday.
They released this statement: “Contrary to information relayed in the media, the performers who will perform during the Paris 2024 Games ceremonies will not receive a fee for their performance".
“This commitment on their part – under these conditions – reflects their desire to participate in a historic event for France and for the world of sport".
“Furthermore, Paris 2024 will cover all technical production and performance organisation costs, as is customary", they added: “Paris 2024 reminds that the budget of the organising committee is 96 per cent financed by private funding and that at no time do public contributions pay the artistic teams".
