The pair star in the romantic, fantasy drama, where they play neighbours who become involved in a romantic relationship. On the back of his performance in the Andrew Haigh directed film, Scott received a Golden Globe nomination, with Paul Mescal receiving a BAFTA nod.

Maynooth native Paul Mescal who is no stranger to intimate scenes, having starred in romantic series Normal People, said, “With the Irish premiere, trying to allocate tickets to all the aunties and uncles is a tricky business".

He added, “They have seen my bum before but there is a little more going on in this movie I would say".

Andrew Scott also remarked, “I don’t want to be there when my parents watch it".

Overall, All Of Us Strangers received six BAFTA nominations, including best director for Andrew Haigh, and outstanding British film.

Speaking about the film, Andrew Scott, whose character also tries to process the pain of losing his parents, said that it deals with issues of love and "how to love with courage".

“It is a hard film to talk about because it sounds nuts, but it is beautiful and very emotional", Scott explained. “There is a coming out story within it and it’s about how to love and how to love with courage".

“It has really been embraced by so many people. To see the film is to love the film and we are very proud of it".

Paul Mescal will also star in Gladiator 2, which will see him play Lucius, Lucilla's grown up son, who is the sister of emperor Commodus.

“I finished filming yesterday and survived. It’s done. I am not allowed to say anything, but it will be out at thanksgiving this year", Mescal revealed.

Mescal received a BAFTA nod in the Supporting Actor category for his role in All Of Us Strangers, having been nominated at last year's awards show for Aftersun.
