Radio DJ Theakston who has been presenting for Heart for 19 years, confirmed this news in a statement shared via Instagram.
"The biopsy has identified this as Stage 1 Laryngeal Cancer", he said. "So... I have cancer... but cancer doesn't have me!
Theakston was also quick to assure fans by adding: "The prognosis is very positive and I'm hoping to be back with you in October".
"Be thankful for this day, and when I see you next I'll have a great story to tell... Jamie x", he concluded.
Following this revelation, Jamie Theakston has received many messages of support from co-host Amanda Holden, as well as Carol Vorderman, Lisa Snowden, Kirsty Galacher, Leigh Francis and Jamie Oliver.
It was also confirmed that presenter Jason King who is also known as JK, will sit in for Theakston on the show while he recovers.
