The highly acclaimed director has compiled this list in his latest book Cinema Speculation, which is out now via Harper Collins. He elaborated on this further during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Tarantino was asked about his statement that The Chainsaw Massacre is one of Hollywood's only "perfect" films.

“Well, there’s not many of them – that just bemoans that the film art form is hard", Tarantino said when asked about other films that he would also include in that list.

He continued, “Look, when you say perfect movies you’re talking about any individual person’s aesthetic but even trying to account for all aesthetics… perfect movies kind of crosses all aesthetics to one degree or another".

While admitting that this list of seven films which you can see below, may not be anyone else's "cup of tea", Tarantino has insisted that people should accept that everyone has their own favourites.

“There’s nothing you can say to bring it [that list] down", he said.

The other members of Tarantino's magnificent seven includes classics such as Jaws, The Exorcist and Back To The Future. Tarantino also added the classic 1969 western The Wild Bunch to his list.

While it mey not feel like a "technically" perfect film, the Pulp Fiction director added that it was “so unassailable”, it had to make this list.

Check out that list in full here.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Jaws (1975)
The Exorcist (1973)
Annie Hall (1977)
Young Frankenstein (1974)
