The Umbrella singer attended the country's declaration as a republic and inauguration ceremony of president elect Sandra Mason on November 30. At this ceremony, Rhianna was awarded the honour of National Hero of Barbados by prime minister Mia Mottley.

While handing over the honour to Rhianna whose real name is Robyn Rhianna Fenty, Mia Mottley said, “May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honour to your nation by your words, by your actions, and to give credit wherever you shall do it".

Following her conferring, Rihanna will be awarded the title The Right Excellent.

The singer and entepreneur had previously been awarded a Barbadian Ambassadorial award in 2008 and named the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for her home country. This promotes tourism, education and investment.
