Rihanna has shared that she stayed sober for all of 2024.

The iconic singer shared a video to Instagram on New Years Eve of her and friends counting down the New Years Eve ball drop in New York’s Time Square. Once she rang in the new year the 36-year-old told the camera “Y’all, I didn’t drink all year! I didn’t drink all year.”

She captioned the post “New Year, New Me.”

Rihanna is not the only celebrity to speak openly about abstaining from alcohol. British actor Tom Holland, famous for his role as Spiderman, has spoken in depth about his decision to give up drinking after becoming an alcoholic during his rise to fame.

On the Rich Roll podcast in October, the 28 year-old shared that he took on the Dry January challenge, saying “I couldn't quite wrap my head around how much I was struggling without booze in that first month — and it really scared me.”

“I decided, as a sort of punishment to myself, that I would do February as well as January... I got through March and started to feel a little bit better, but was still really struggling,” he explained. The star decided to extend his abstention to his birthday on June 1st, but by then he had already felt the benefits and couldn't look back.

“I started sleeping better. I was handling stressful situations better. My relationship was better. My relationship with my family was better. My relationship with my work was better,”

Eventually the star fully gave up alcohol and has now launched his very own line of non-alcoholic beer, BERO.

Runway model Bella Hadid also co-founded a brand of non-alcoholic beverages called Kin Euphorics after embarking on her sobriety journey.

“I have done my fair share of drinking. I loved alcohol and it got to the point where I even started to, you know, cancel nights out that I felt like I wouldn’t be able to control myself.” Hadid told InStyle in July of 2023, celebrating 10 months of sobriety.

“I don’t feel the need [to drink] because I know how it will affect me at three in the morning when I wake up with horrible anxiety thinking about that one thing I said five years ago when I graduated high school. There’s just this never-ending effect of, essentially, you know, pain and stress over those few drinks that didn’t really do much, you know?”
