Robbie Williams has revealed what Gary Barlow said to him about his new biopic 'Better Man'.

The biopic which is due to be release on December 26, and select UK cinemas on December 25, is directed and co-written by The Greatest Showman's Michael Gracey.

Robbie Williams who will be depicted as a CGI monkey in the film, has now shared the blunt response from his former Take That bandmate.

According to Williams, he received a phone call from Gary Barlow to say that he felt that the project made him look like a Hollywood supervillain.

“We had a fractious relationship. In the script, I speak how I thought back then, which wasn’t complimentary to Gaz, and we sent him the script", Williams said. “He rang me and, he’s a grown-up and there was no effing or pointing fingers, and he was like, ‘Rob, I come off worse than Darth Vader in the first half".

It was reported that this phone call prompted Williams to alter the portrayal of Gary Barlow in the biopic's final edits.

Robbie Williams had previously said that he was intended to be the main villain in the film.

“I’m quite happy to be the main villain in this movie,” he said. “There were many villains in this movie until we legally couldn’t have many villains in this movie. And now the only villain in this movie is me".

Robbie Williams quit Take That in 1995, which began a long standing feud between the pair, as the singer embarked on a hugely successful solo career.

The duo soon made their peace, with Williams returning to Take That for a live tour in 2010.

Williams has stated in a recent BBC documentary, Boyband Forever that the pair are “mates now and I love him, and our relationship is 95 per cent healed”, there will “always be a scar”.
