Robbie Williams has claimed that he was diagnosed with a "17th century pirate disease" after he "stopped eating".
The former Take That singer has opened up about being diagnosed with scurvy, a condition which emanates from a lack of vitamin C over a long period of time due to a poor diet. The symptoms can include irritability, fatigue, easily bruised skin, weakness, aching muscles and more.
In Williams' case, it resulted from taking an appetite suppressant drug to lose weight, saying that this drug saw him stop "eating and I wasn't getting nutrients".
"With body dysmorphia, when people say they're worried about how you're looking, you're like: 'I've achieved it", Williams said. "When people say: 'we're worried you're too thin' that goes into my head as 'jackpot. I've reached the promised land".
Robbie Williams also revealed that he recently encountered certain issues regarding his mental health.
Williams who was previously diagnosed with depression in his early 20s, said that he began to suffer certain issues for the first time in a "a very, very long time".
"I was sad, I was anxious, I was depressed", the singer added.
"It's been about ten years...I thought I was at the other end of the arc," the star told the outlet. "I thought this was the end of my story, and that I would just go walking into this marvellous wonderland. So for it to return was just confusing".
In his time, Robbie Williams has been suffered with anxiety, addiction and agoraphobia.
However, Williams has shared that his mental health has improved, since changing his diet.
Back in January, Williams earned his 15th number one studio album, with his 'Better Man' soundtrack, tying him level with The Beatles, putting him level with the Beatles in the all time chart. More on this here.
