Irish football legend Roy Keane will join author Roddy Doyle for a special 'In Conversation' event at the Marquee, Cork next Summer, it was confirmed.

The event is titled, 'An evening with Roy Keane, in conversation with Roddy Doyle', in association with Aiken Promotions.  Tickets for this event will go on sale this Friday, (November 8) at 9am via Ticketmaster.

Doyle and Keane have remained friends, with Doyle having written the former Manchester United captain's second autobiography, The Second Half.

Keane's first autobiography was co-written with journalist Eamon Dunphy, with the pair falling out following its release.

According to reports, the fallout arose over how Dunphy described Roy Keane's infamous tackle on Manchester City player Alf-Inge Haaland, which left the Norwegian with a serious injury. However, Dunphy has always disputed these claims.

Last week, a first look photo of the upcoming film Saipan, depicting the events leading to the Republic of Ireland's much publicised World Cup campaign in 2002, which led to Roy Keane being sent home following a row with then manager Mick McCarthy, was released.

The film is being directed by filmmakers Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D'Sa. It is also based on the original script from Paul Fraser.

"We're thrilled to be working with this extraordinary cast and creative team to tell the story of an infamous moment in Irish and football history that drew battle lines across a nation, cast its hopes, dreams and sense of identity into disarray, and briefly made a tiny volcanic island in the Pacific one of the most famous places on earth", Barros D'Sa and Leyburn said of the film.
