The Welsh club who are co owned by Reynolds and McElhenney, secured their return to the football pyramid following a 15 year absence, thanks to a 3-1 win over Borham Wood over the weekend, with the pair both in attendance.
The duo who purchased the club in February 2021, have since reflected on this glorious achievement with the oldest football club in the world.
Speaking to BT Sport on the pitch post-match, Ryan Reynolds stated that he was left "speechless" by the scenes at full time, as fans ran out onto the pitch to celebrate with the players.
“I am not sure I can process what happened tonight. I am still a little speechless", Reynolds said. “[People ask] ‘Why Wrexham?’. This is why Wrexham. This happening, right now, is why. Boreham Wood showed up today. They are an incredible team. They have one of the best defences in the entire league".
Reynolds also spared a thought for second place Notts County, who were neck and neck with Wrexham all season, but will now have to fight for promotion via the play offs.
“This entire story, the reason we are all on edge of our seats is because Notts County are so damn good", Reynolds exclaimed. "They deserve to go up. We are rooting for Notts County. We want to see them go up".
Co owner Rob McElhenney also added, “Well I think we can hear what it feels to the town. It’s a time of celebration and to be welcomed into their community and be welcomed to this, it is the honour of my life".
The following day, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to express his joy at Wrexham's achievements.
“Everything I own smells like champagne, beer and grass", Reynolds tweeted. "I’m still somewhere between giggling and sobbing. This town and this sport is one of the most romantic things on earth. Thank you, @Wrexham_AFC,” .
