The estate have issued a joint statement with the late singer's record label Chrysalis, saying that Sinéad O'Connor who died last July aged 56, would have been "disgusted, hurt, and insulted" at her hit 'Nothing Compares 2 U' being used by Trump at his rallies, and have demanded that he stops using her music immediately.

The statement read, “Throughout her life, it is well known that Sinéad O’Connor lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, fairness, and decency towards her fellow human beings". “It was with outrage therefore that we learned that Donald Trump has been using her iconic performance of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ at his political rallies,”.

"It is no exaggeration to say that Sinéad would have been disgusted, hurt and insulted to have her work misrepresented in this way by someone who she herself referred to as a ‘biblical devil’, they added.  “As the guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates desist from using her music immediately".

Donald Trump is seeking to return to the US Presidential hotseat, having been ousted by current US President Joe Biden in 2021.

Sinéad O'Connor becomes the latest artist to call out Trump over using her music for his political campaigns. Other artists include Rihanna, Aerosmth frontman Steven Tyler, Linkin Park, the Smith's Johnny Marr, and the late Tom Petty.
