Buffet who was best known for his hit Margaritaville, released his debut album, Down To Earth in 1970.
His death was confirmed via a statement shared on his X account.
"Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs", a statement said. "He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many".
