A set of 15 stamps celebrating the ambassadors of “girl power” is in recognition of the band’s 30th anniversary.

Band members, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Melanie Brown were famously labeled by the global press with the nicknames Posh, Ginger, Baby, Sporty and Scary Spice.

The superstar ensemble were formed in 1994 by father and son management duo, Bob and Chris Herbert.

The new stamps feature images of some the “Wannabe” stars most well-known performances including the 1997 Brit Awards, Wembley Stadium in 1998 and the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Geri Halliwell-Horner receives her own individual stamp featuring her famous Union Jack mini-dress at the 1997 Brits.

The five-piece will become the sixth music group to feature in a dedicated stamp issue, and the first all-female act to receive the honour.

The Beatles were featured on their own stamps in 2007. They were followed by Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020, The Rolling Stones in 2022 and Iron Maiden in 2023.

The band said they were "so excited to be celebrated by Royal Mail, alongside some of the most iconic and influential music legends".

David Gold, Royal Mail director of external affairs and policy said: "The Spice Girls have been a force to be reckoned with since they formed as a group in 1994.

"We are proud to celebrate the most successful female music group ever seen, not only for their music but their enduring influence over so many aspects of our lives."

Spice Girls, whose number one hits include Spice Up Your Life, 2 Become 1 and Viva Forever, were the best-selling British act of the 1990s.

The band reunited as a four-piece, without Victoria Beckham, for a stadium tour in 2019 which included a stop-off at Croke Park.

The stamps go on general sale on 11th January.
