Storm Eunice is set to take across Ireland overnight, while an Orange Storm warning has also been issued for 14 counties. The warnings have been issued for Waterford, Clare, Kilkenny, Carlow, Cork, Kerry, Wexford, Galway, Laois, Offaly and Dublin.
Met Éireann have also confirmed that a Status Yellow warning for rain and snow will be in place for the entire country.
Describing the storm as "significant", Met Éireann meteorologist Gerry Murphy has said, “Simply because the winds are so strong there is the potential for significant fallen trees, for significant debris from buildings that may not be secure. There is also significant hazards due to the potential of fallen trees if someone is driving”.
He also explained that Red Warnings mean that “people should completely stay at home during the period of that warning”.
There will be falls of snow, rain and sleet, with snow to mainly hit Ulster and Connacht.
Gerry Murphy also said that Storm Eunice will bring strong winds developing close to midnight in the southwest.
Met Éireann have also confirmed that the Status Yellow warning will take effect from 1am tomorrow and will last until 3pm.
Bonnie Diamond Communications Meteorologist for Met Éireann has stated that while no strong wind warning are in place for today, strong winds will take over in the days ahead. Gale force winds are also possible.
