Taylor Swift Opens Up On 'Horror' Of Southport Knife Attack

Taylor Swift has opened up about the "horror" of the mass stabbing which took place in Southport yesterday.

Yesterday, three children were killed in a knife attack, which happened at a Swift-themed dance and yoga workshop on Hart Street, which also left seven people injured, who all remain in a critical condition. Five of these injured victims were children, and two were adults.

The children that died in that horrific incident were aged six, seven and nine.

Police later confirmed that a 17 year old male was arrested on suspicion of murder, and remains in custody. The boy who is originally from Cardiff, was living in the village of Banks close to Southport, in Merseyside, England. 

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called this incident, "horrendous and deeply shocking", while sending his thoughts to those affected. He also hailed the emergency services and Merseyside Police for responding to "the most difficult of circumstances".

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper also added: “The news from Southport is truly devastating. My heart goes out to all the families affected by this horrific incident & to the whole community".

Reacting to this news, Taylor Swift has said that she is "completely in shock", while expressing her "sympathies" to those affected. 

“The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock", the singer wrote on her Instagram stories. 

“The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families and first responders", she added. “These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families". 

At the time of writing, over £85,000 was raised by Swift fans for the Alder Hey Children's Hospital, were some of the injured have been treated.
