Taylor Swift Renames Song To Diss Kanye West

The song ‘thanK you aIMee’ is the 24th song on Taylor Swift's most recent LP The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.

Swifties were quick to realise that the capitalised letters spelt out Kim, possibly meaning the song is about Ye’s former-wife Kim Kardashian, someone Swift has long fought with publicly.

However, Swift, aged 33, changed the title to ‘thank You aimEe’, for the new live version of the song, now spelling out Ye (Kanye West). The title change is likely a jab at the American rapper since Swift recently blocked his 19-year streak of number one album debuts.

In the ‘Tortured Poets’ song, Swift sings about a rivalry she once had:  “All that time you were throwing punches, I was building something / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed ‘F--- you, Aimee’ to the night sky, as the blood was gushing / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.”

The song is rumoured to be referencing Swift and Ye’s almost 15 year long feud.

It all started back in 2009 at MTV’s VMAs when Kanye West stormed the stage during Swift's acceptance speech for the Best Female Music Video award. He snatched the mic to say that Beyoncé was far more deserving of Swift's award.

The feud would only continue after West released his 2016 song ‘Famous’ saying  “I feel like me and Taylor might still have s**, I made that b*** famous.”

When Swift took issue with the lyric West’s then-wife Kim Kardashian would release, now known to be “altered”, clips of a phone call with Swift making it out as if she approved the lyric.

The two would go back and forth with the Kardashian claiming the pop singer was a “snake”. Swift responded in her 2017 'Look What You Made Me Do' music video, showing her sitting on a throne of snakes.
