Actress Aubrey Plaza and the family of her late husband Jeff Baena have called his death an "unimaginable tragedy".
47 year old Jeff Baena, a filmmaker, died last Friday aged 47, after he was found at a home located near the Fern Dell Nature Trail close to the Hollywood Hills.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner had ruled that Mr Baena had taken his own life, with a cause of death determined as hanging.
In a statement from Plaza, and the Baena/Stern family, Jeff Baena's death was described as "an unimaginable tragedy".
"We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support", the statement added. "Please respect our privacy during this time".
Before her husband's death, Aubrey Plaza had been announced as a presenter at Sunday's Golden Globes ceremony, but was not present at the event.
In his acceptance speech, The Brutalist filmmaker Brady Corbet offered his condolences.
"My heart is with Aubrey Plaza, and Jeff’s family", he said on stage, after accepting his award for best director for a motion picture drama.
Aubrey Plaza, began dating Jeff Baena in 2011. The couple married a decade later. They worked together on 2014 horror film Life After Beth, and 2017 historical comedy The Little Hours.
Baena is also known for writing the 2020 thriller, Horse Girl, as well as 2022 dark comedy, You Spin Me Round. He also directed the 2004 comedy I Heart Huckabees, which starred Jude Law, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Schwartzman, and Mark Whalberg.
He also created Cinema Toast, the anthology series, which also saw Plaza direct one episode, as well as Community, which starred Alison Brie. Brie also starred in Horse Girl.
In 2023, Aubrey Plaza earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the second series of The White Lotus, and has starred in Disney+ series, Agatha All Along.
