Amina [Netflix]
True story of Amina Mohamud, a 16th century leader in what is now Nigeria, who used her military skills to defend her family's kingdom.

The Card Counter [Cinemas]
Once best known for his screenplays for Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, Paul Schrader is experiencing something of a comeback as a director in recent years. His latest stars Oscar Isaac as a gambler haunted by his involvement in war crimes in Iraq.

The Claus Family [Netflix]
One of dozens of Christmas movies set to drop on Netflix in the coming weeks. This one sees a young Christmas hating man discover his grandfather is none other than Santa Claus, and he's set to take over the family business.

Dead and Beautiful [Shudder]
Following a night of hard partying, five rich kids discover they've grown fangs and developed a taste for blood.

Eternals [Cinemas]
Marvel shocked everyone by recruiting arthouse filmmaker Chloe Zhao (Nomadland) to direct their latest mega-budget superhero movie. It seems to have backfired as it's the first Marvel movie to register as "rotten" on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Angelina Jolie heads the all-star cast of Eternals, the latest superhero supergroup.

Father Christmas is Back [Netflix]
Four estranged sisters are forced to put their differences aside when their long-lost father gathers them for an unexpected family Christmas.

Finch [Apple TV+]
In this sci-fi drama, Tom Hanks plays a seemingly lone human survivor in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. To ensure his dog is cared for after he's gone, he builds a sentient robot.

The Flood [VOD]
In this Australian take on the western, an aboriginal woman takes violent revenge against the people who took her children away from her.

Love Hard [Netflix]
A young writer flies 3,000 miles to finally meet in person the man she fell for on a dating site, only to find she's been catfished.

Red Notice [Cinemas]
This action comedy stars Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot as a pair of rival criminals forced to work together by an FBI profiler (Dwayne Johnson) who recruits them for a secret mission.

Spencer [Cinemas]
Kristen Stewart delivers a career best performance as Princess Diana in this unconventional biopic from acclaimed filmmaker Pablo Larrain. Billed as a "fable from a true tragedy," the film imagines three fraught days over Christmas 1991 as Diana joins the royal family for a holiday gathering at Sandringham. Being ridiculously wealthy has never looked so miserable.

We Couldn't Become Adults [Netflix]
An online friend request prompts a man to recall his past relationships and the mistakes he made along the way.

Yara [Netflix]
Inspired by a real-life case, Yara tells the story of a prosecutor who becomes obsessed with a missing 13-year-old girl and circumvents the law in his quest for the truth.

Zero to Hero [Netflix]
True story of So Wa-wai, who beat the odds to become a medal-winning Paralympian.
