Conversations With Friends becomes the second novel written by Rooney to have been made into a TV series, following the success of her previous novel Normal People.

This novel sees Frances, a 21 year old college student based in Dublin and her friend Bobbi becoming involved with a married couple Melissa and Nick.

Frances will be played by Alison Oliver, an emerging talent from Dublin's Lir Academy. Sasha Lane who starred in American Honey will play Bobbi, while Girls' Jemima Kirke will play Melissa.

Elsewhere, the role of Nick will be filled by the Favourite's Joe Alwyn. Alwyn currently dates singer Taylor Swift.

This show will be directed by Lenny  Abrahamson who also co-directed Normal People with Hettie McDonald. Abrahamson will co-direct Conversations With Friends alongside Leanne Welham. It will run for 12 episodes, and will be produced by Dublin company, Element Pictures.
