“For this next song, this is such a treat and I feel so so honoured that I get to do this. This is going to be so much fun,” The Bray-born singer laughs.
He introduced Sheeran on stage as “one of the biggest artists on the planet”, describing the British singer as “An incredible writer...just a wonderful person and a wonderful guy.”
The two sang one of Hozier's most popular hits ‘Work Song’ from his self-titled album. Ed Sheeran performed the second verse of the song with his signature acoustic guitar.
Sheeran shared some behind the scenes footage to Instagram and TikTok of the two preparing for the performance. The video shows the two rehearsing, with Hozier teaching Sheeran the chords to the song.
This wasn't Sheeran's only guest appearance that weekend as he also was invited on stage by Limp Bizkit to sing a over of The Who’s ‘Behind Blue Eyes’.
Earlier this year, Hozier became the first Irish artist since Sinead O’Connor to top the Billboard Singles chart with his single ‘Too Sweet’ from his EP ‘Unheard’. The song went viral on TikTok and cemented Hozier as one of only four Irish artists to have ever topped the chart.
Hozier is currently on his ‘Unreal Unearth’ tour across Europe and is planning to embark on the American leg of the tour in late July. He is set to play in Dublin’s Marlay Park on the 5th of July to a completely sold out crowd.
