Zac Efron Says He Is 'Happy And Healthy' Following Swimming Accident

US actor Zac Efron has assured fans that he is "happy and healthy" after being rushed to hospital following a swimming accident.

Efron who made his name as Troy Bolton in Disney's High School Musical series, has confirmed that he is safe, with representatives saying that he had a "minor swimming incident" at a villa in Ibiza last Friday.

The actor revealed that he is safe via his Instagram stories, where he can be spotted lifting weights, while laying on a pink inflatable fitness ball. He also wrote: "Happy and healthy - thanks for well wishes". 

Efron's representatives also confirmed that the actor was released from hospital the following day, having been taken there as a "precautionary measure". 

Zac Efron has been travelling across Europe, where he was spotted in Mykonos, St Tropez, and Paris in the last month. He also joined Martin Garrix on stage at the Spanish party island. 

Following his exploits as Troy Bolton, Efron has also starred in 17 Again, and The Greatest Showman, as well as portraying notorious serial killer Ted Bundy in Netflix's Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

In 2021, Zac Efron won an Emmy Award for Netflix travel show, Down To Earth.
